1 - The city commission itself most needs improvement. We must restore public confidence in government and ensure a sense of decorum among the commission and executive staff;
2- The roles of the commission and city manager. We must take steps to ensure
commissioners do not interfere in the administration of city government;
Within Century Village, I will coordinate a workshop to include Master Management, city, county and state officials to answer questions and provide residents with the current status of the main gate, perimeter wall, and other cross-jurisdictional projects;
District-wide, I will Immediately establish a schedule of pre-commission resident meetings to allow citizens to informally discuss items coming before the commission.
A city commissioner develops public policy, approves and oversees the city budget, enacts ordinances, and supports programs that enrich the community and involve residents in city government. Through my work in state government, in the non-profit sector, and as an HOA and condominium manager, I have successfully done that for forty years.
Police - 4 - Heavy-handedness exhibited at public meetings
Fire - 5
Sanitation - 4 - I expect that recent changes implemented by the city manager to the delivery of service will show improvements
Water - 4 -PFAS in water
Street maintenance - 3.5 Cost overruns to street maintenance projects demonstrate a lack of oversight on the part of executive staff and the Commission.
Parks & Rec - 4 Park improvements receive a 5, but there is a lack of follow-up on the success of workshops, classes and events to determine their success.
Communication - 4 Again, we are doing a lot of promotion, but no evaluation to determine its effectiveness. The website, likewise, could use improvement, as it contains a lot of information, but is not user-friendly.
